Marlene received her Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and her Master’s from the Juilliard School in New York City. She did post graduate studies at the Hoch Schule für Musik in Frankfurt, Germany. Marlene has studied piano with Gui Mombaerts, Josef Raieff and August Leopolder and harpsichord with Maria Jäger. She has been a faculty member at Eastman School of Music and Salem College. She has appeared as soloist and chamber musician throughout Germany and the United States and performed on radio “Voice of America”, WNYC in New York City, and WFDD in Winston-Salem. She has also appeared as soloist with several orchestras, including the Wake Forest University Orchestra and the Winston-Salem Symphony. Marlene is currently organist for the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany in Winston-Salem and she also collaborates with her husband as a composer of sacred choral music.
